Architectural Salvage

I saw a space today that would be lovely if it were flanked with architectural salvage like these shutters. The texture, warmth of the wood and character is all wonderful. But the scale of these shutters are the reason they fantastic. Anything lesser in size would probably still look attractive, but it wouldn't have a grandness about it like these do. It's one of my favorite combinations. Inexpensive or common materials used in a repetitive or unexpected fashion in grand scale. It almost always results in unassuming greatness. Relaxed refinement. My dad has always said, "when you're cool, you don't have to tell people you're cool.
